Over four separate projects across the South West, we worked with BBS to design and install high-performance mezzanine floors tailored to their exact needs saving them time, money, and disruption. During their expansion across the South West BBS had acquired four new premises that all benefitted from mezzanines floors to store stock.
The Challenge: Growing Fast, But Out of Room
BBS, a leading independent plumbing and heating supplier with branches across Bristol, Bath and Weston-Super-Mare, was facing a common challenge:
Lots of stock but too little space.
With increasing demand and limited room for expansion, each branch was feeling the pressure. But relocating multiple sites wasn’t a practical or affordable option.
That’s where we came in.
The Solution: Maximising Space from the Inside Out
Through careful structural planning and on-site consultations, we helped BBS unlock unused vertical space in their warehouses, installing mezzanine platforms that dramatically increased storage and operational capacity without requiring additional square footage.

BBS Weston-super-Mare
New floor area added: ~3552 sqft
- 22.94m x 14.40m steel mezzanine platform
- Load capacity: 5.0kN/m² (500 kg per m²) — ideal for heavy stock
- 34m of safety handrail + 1200mm steel staircase

- Platform size: 11.5m x 8.96m
- Load capacity: 5.0kN/m² – ideal for heavy stock
- 1.5m sliding gate for goods access + 900mm staircase
- Open tubular safety rails to exposed edge

- 8.4m x 7.0m mezzanine for stock and racking
- Load capacity: 5.0kN/m² with heavy-duty baseplates
- 900mm staircase, 23m handrail with kickplate
- Additional works: dismantling/rebuilding racking layouts
